Who can attend the course?
The course is aimed at plumbers who wish to comply with the current building regulations requirements. Successful candidates will be deemed competent to maintain and install unvented hot water systems. The G2 certificate is also a requirement if plumbers wish to obtain full scope certification in Solar installation.

Where do I go to study the course?
The courses are run in our NIC/EIC training centre at Penhale Military Training Camp, Holywell Bay, Newquay, Cornwall, TR5 8PF. We will provide you with joining instructions including a map and directions.

What are the entry requirements?
No supply pre-requisite knowledge or qualifications are required, however a basic understanding of the working principles of domestic cold and hot water systems would be advantageous.

Course Objectives?
The Building Regulations Part G3 defines unvented hot water systems as a 'controlled service' and as such, it is a legal requirement that all unvented hot water installations are notified to the local Building Control department. There are two methods of notification available to an engineer, the first one involves the submission of a Building Control Notice and involves the payment of a fee, the second option is to undertake a recognised qualification that allows the installer to self-certificate any systems installed. The course covers all aspects of unvented hot water installation including legislative requirements and safety issues, as well as the correct installation, commissioning and servicing of systems.

Qualifications to be obtained:
NIC/EIC Unvented G3 Certificate.

What can I do after the course?
Successful candidates will receive a G3 certificate and an ID card that all installers must have as proof of competence to work on unvented installations. This is also proof of compliance with current building regulations.

How long is the Course and will I need to bring anything?
The course takes 2 days and you are required to bring a pair of steel toe capped boots, 4 passport photos and a packed lunch. Tea and coffee are provided along with any course reading material.
